History of fengshui

So when and how is fengshui invented?

In the past our forefather stay in the cave in the past, to get to the cave it is not an easy thing to do it and when it rains, the cave will be flooded, therefore they will have no place to stay.

Then they started to see that birds building their nest on the trees, so they started to follow them and build tree house. But there are still problems that they are not able to solve. After they hunt for their food, it is not easy for them to bring the animal up the trees, most of the time, they will just leave the hunted animal at the bottom of the tree, sometimes the hunted animal will be taken away by other animals thus they will need to hunt for more food.

Finally one day they invented building their house on the ground, this is when fengshui started. In the olden days, how they know which direction to build they house facing and sitting? They started with a very old method known as bu zhai (卜宅), they will use a tree branch and just toss it in the air, where the thinner side landed, that will be the house opening, the thicker end will be the house sitting direction, this is where fengshui started.

Then when our forefather started to have the North, South, East and West concept, at that time, almost all the house in china is sitting at north facing south, due to the weather condition. Because during winter, the house will be warm and during summer the house will be cooling(冬暖夏凉).

Then Zhou Wen Wang (周文王) invented the later heaven bagua (八卦), then someone else invented the eight house mansion fengshui (八宅) which make use of the later heaven bagua. Using the 45° a palaces with 4 good and 4 bad sector. But after a while they met with problems, if husband and wife belong to the different group then how are they going to stay together in the same house?

Later san he fengshui (三合风水) is invented using the 24 mountain (二十四山) using the prefect triangle to get a good fengshui. With the dragon (来龙) , water (水口) and mountain (坐山) to form a 60° prefect triangle, in order to have a good fengshui. As we all know, there is nothing on earth that is prefect, therefore to get the prefect triangle is a very tough job. And also there are many limitation and therefore it also costs bottleneck in fengshui.

At a much later stage, xuan kong fengshui (玄空风水) is invented, using the 64 hexagram, each hexagram have 6 lines, therefore each line is only 0.9375°( Check out the working below) . This method is invented at a much later stage to resolve the bottleneck that is created in the san he fengshui (三合风水).

Today, I think not many master is teaching this method now, because this is where the real essence of fengshui. Because fengshui is a knowledge accumulated over time.

So one question, where is flying star fengshui?

The Flying star fengshui we learn today is not really from china. Towards the end of ming dynasty (明朝 1368-1644 ) a monk mu jiang seng (目讲僧) invented purple star fengshui (紫白飞星 、 紫白诀) and after that this is taught to a Mongolian Yu Le Chu Cai(耶律楚材) who came to the central china during that time. After that he when back to Mongolia he further enhance this method and created the current flying star fengshui (三元飞星) that we learn today then later this knowledge is past back to central china. The name is changed I think in the past 10-15 year to make it sounds better, because during that time xuan kong fengshui is the hottest therefore they use the name xuan kong flying star (玄空飞星). I believe it is due to marketing reasons, as for me, I had done my own experiment and studies on all the methods, all of them works and you will be able to see effect, if it is done correctly. Just that flying star had the biggest market now due to heavily publicity done by many masters. And it is also heavily marketed. And I think that this is one of the easiest method that you can pick up. My student is able to pick up flying star in 3-5 days time. After that all think that this is a very easy method. I'll share all this in this blog so do stay tune and keep reading.

Full circle is 360°, so it is divided by 384lines which equals to 0.9375°

360° ÷ (64 X 6 = 384lines) = 0.9375°
